This week has been a little challenging when it comes to writing. I’ve somehow screwed up the password to my primary writing laptop, so I started writing this new WIP on my phone, and now I’m having a hard time writing any other way. I tried attending my usual writing group — not a critique group, just a group of people banging away on keyboards together — and I just couldn’t. I ended up leaving early.
I don’t believe in the muse in the sense of having to have the perfect setup before one can begin. That’s too precious for most people to maintain, and certainly too precious for me to maintain. But there are days when something is between me and the words, and that’s always frustrating.
Especially because the first 2.5 chapters came so easily! I wrote 4k words on Saturday sitting on the couch while my love napped, and most of the rest of the words I currently have came from writing in bed with not one but two cats on my lap.
I’m at the stage in this WIP where every time I sit down to write, I get ideas or insights I need to apply elsewhere in the book. Thank goodness Scrivener has comment and notes features so I can capture things right there without losing momentum.
